Mr. Brett A. Bjornson is a California Certified Legal Specialist in Estate Planning, Trust and Probate Law.  Mr. Bjornson’s areas of expertise include trust and estate litigation, elder abuse, estate planning, trust administration and probate matters. His highly unique “trifecta” of qualifications includes a Jurist Doctorate, a CPA designation (inactive), and a Master of Science degree in Federal Income Taxation, which allows for Mr. Bjornson to quickly pinpoint and quantify the reality of each client’s situation.

Trust Administration and Probates

Trust administration, as is probate, is the business of transferring title, paying taxes and distributing a trust or probate estate.  A properly constructed estate plan should allow for relative ease of administration.  A poorly constructed estate plan results in probate, public disclosure and expensive legal fees.  Mr. Bjornson attempts to minimize legal fees putting into place estate plans with particular efforts in reducing legal work.  Mr. Bjornson is an attorney that likes to work himself out of a job.

Mr. Bjornson is admitted to the California State Bar and to practice in U.S. Tax Court. He is a member of the Los Angeles County Bar Association, the Santa Monica Bar Association and the Beverly Hills Estate Planning Council.

He holds a Bachelor of Science in business administration with an accounting option from California State University at Hayward (1981) and a Master of Science in Federal Income Taxation from California State University at Hayward (1987). Mr. Bjornson received his Juris Doctor from the Southwestern University School of Law in 2004.  He is a resident of our Santa Monica office.
